Assault Veteran: 8 kills with any Assault rifle, 12 Heals. Assault Basic: Reach rank 10, 7 kills with any Assault rifle, 11 Heals. You can use the AK-12 which is not a bad weapon but it has a slow fire rate meaning you lose out on close range, or the M416 which is good all round but not as good as the ACE 23. Having found out that the ACE 23 is a better weapon you need to grind out the kills to unlock it. Some guns are better than others and using some will just feel like grinding a losing battle. You will get more of your shots on target with the ACE 23 and indeed that is considered one of the best guns in Battlefield 4. So is there a better gun? Comparing accuracy plots for the FAMAS to ACE 23, we can see that the ACE 23 is more accurate and controllable. This will be helped by ‘tap-firing’ and using short controlled bursts of about 3 shots, tap, tap, tap on the button. Much beyond that you are going to miss all the time. So these two weapons, the FAMAS and the MP7 are best used at very short range where you could almost knife your opponent and where a high rate of fire will help you. As you can see, at 50mtrs there is only a 50% chance that your first bullet will hit and the rest will miss. The green dots are where your first bullet might hit, yellow second, orange third and red for your fourth bullet. This is what happens when you try and shoot someone 50mtrs away using the FAMAS with no attachments. I find these plots so useful for comparing guns and attachments. If we look on we can see accuracy plots such as the one above.
If I compensate for the gun pulling up, my shots will still mostly land either side of the target by a long way.
If I just point an MP7 at someone across a room and press fire until it’s empty I will miss him completely. The thing is bullet spread and, as you can see in the video above, some guns have it really bad. Why would that be? Is my gun just bad? Is everyone else hacking? You work out that you’re just missing all the time and yet some seem to never miss. Then they shoot back and you definitely do fall down. You’re aiming at your enemy and pressing the trigger but they don’t fall down. Often when playing Battlefield 4 it might seem like you’re shooting blanks. (Why doesn’t my gun work in Battlefield 4?)
